QLD: Off-duty policeman and woman assaulted

Police in Brisbane are searching for a man who assaulted a woman and two police officers
before driving a stolen car towards other officers.

A police spokeswoman says an off-duty policeman went to help a woman who was being
assaulted by a man behind the Roma Street watch-house in Brisbane's central business district
around noon.

The man then began assaulting the policeman and another working officer who arrived
on the scene, before getting into a car which he reversed into the off-duty policeman's
motorbike, before heading towards other officers on the footpath.

The man was last seen in Taringa, in Brisbane's inner west, driving a white Subaru
station wagon reported stolen earlier this week.

The offender is described as caucasian, aged about 30, 1.85 metres tall, with black
hair and wearing a white T-shirt and dark-coloured cargo pants.

Anyone with information is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
