Avonex prefilled syringe approved in Europe.

2003 JUL 28 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Biogen announced that the European Agency for Evaluation of Medicinal Products (EMEA) has approved a new Avonex formulation (Interferon beta-1a) in a prefilled syringe designed to make treatment even more convenient for people with multiple sclerosis (MS).

This action by the EMEA follows approval of the Avonex prefilled syringe in the United States by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on May 29 this year.

Avonex, the only once-a-week treatment for MS, is now approved in a convenient, prefilled syringe which makes it even easier for people with MS to administer. There will be a phased launch throughout …
