Fed: Agency calls on employers to undertake pay audit

A government agency has called on all employers to undertake an audit to determine
pay differences between men and women.

The Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency has made the call as part of
today's Equal Pay Day.

Today's been selected by the agency because it's 54 days since the end of the financial
year .. which represents the number of extra days women have to work each year to equal
the average male salary.

Agency director ANNA MCPHEE says employers can support the day by initiating a pay
audit and review of women's pay rates.
